Use the map: a tech’s route, a day handed on, a better order
For the office
The Route section at the bottom of Today shows one tech’s stops on a map, numbered in the order they are booked, with the same stops listed beside it. Under the map it says “Booked order, not live position.” The map knows where the stops are, not where a tech is right now.
Pick whose route. Click a tech’s name on the board and choose Show the route, or use the buttons above the map (All techs, then each tech; a long team gets a menu). The picked tech’s line is the only colour on the map. A solid line joins the stops already done, a dashed one the stops still to go. Each pin is numbered by stop, filled when done, hollow when still to go, amber for a callback and red for late or couldn’t be done. Click a pin or a stop in the list to see the customer, the window and what to do with it.
A stop is not on the map. A line under the map says how many stops are missing and that they are not counted in anyone’s route. Click Show them (Show it for one) for the reason: address not found, a different address from the customer’s, or no address. For an address not found, click Fix the address to correct it on the customer. The map looks it up again.
Move a stop
- Click its pin, then pick a tech under Move to.
- Or in the List, click Move at the end of the row and choose To a tech or To tomorrow.
Only a stop not started can move.
A tech is out
- Click Out sick on the tech’s row on Today or on the Schedule (shown while they have a stop not started). It is next to Route when you pick the tech, and in their name’s menu on the board.
- Under Who takes the open stops? pick Spread across the team, one tech, or Leave them unassigned.
This is for the day you are looking at. A line says how many stops moved and where. The tech shows Out sick. Mark back in puts them on the schedule again but does not move stops back. To undo the whole thing, use Undo.
A better order
- Pick a tech. With fewer than three stops not started, or a stop not on the map, a line says why there is no order to suggest.
- When one would save a mile or more of driving, or put a late stop back in its window, a box says so: “A better order: about 3 fewer miles of driving”. It shows the new stop numbers and draws the route as a plain dark line.
- Click Use this order. The stops not started are renumbered in that order, after the ones already started or done. For today or tomorrow, the tech gets an alert that the route changed.
Hide it takes the dark line off the map. If their order is already good, a line says so.
Take a change back. Click Undo on the line that appears right after a move, a mark-out or a new order. Later, click Changes at the top of the board and use Undo on that line. A stop already started stays where it is.
Good to know:
- The miles are an estimate from the map, not road directions. Whether every window is kept is a guess too: it assumes about 25 miles an hour and half an hour at each stop.
