What happens when I have no signal?

For techs

Keep working. Every tap is saved on the phone first and sent to the office when there is signal.

How do I know the office has it?

  • The top of Today says “all sent” with a time when the office has everything. While something waits, it says how many changes are “waiting for signal”.
  • Me says Saved, online or Saved, offline. When everything has been sent it says “Everything is at” your company’s name.

How do I know the phone has no signal? The cloud at the top of Today turns amber and says No signal. Saving on this phone. The top of a stop says the same. Your work is still saved. The cue goes when the signal is back.

Is there anything to press? No. The phone sends on its own when signal comes back, when you open the app, and every few minutes. Update now is on Me if you want it, but nothing needs pressing.

A report with no signal. After you hand a report to the share sheet with no signal, the stop says Report will go out when you have signal and keeps Send report. It says Report shared once there is signal. A report you handed over with signal always says Report shared, even if the signal drops afterward.

A message with no signal. A message you send shows Waiting for signal under it until the office has it, then Sent. The demo does the same: with no signal a reply says Waiting for signal, and Sent once the signal is back.

Why do photos come later? Records go first. Photos and videos upload after, so a slow upload never holds up a finished stop. Today then says “Records sent” and how many photos are still uploading. The office sees “Photo still uploading from the tech’s phone” until it arrives.

Until it is sent, never:

  • delete the app,
  • sign out,
  • delete your login.

Work that has not been sent exists only inside the app on this phone. The phone won’t let you sign out while something is waiting. It says Not yet and tells you to get signal and send first.

The phone says changes aren’t in the office’s records. Today shows “This work is still on your phone. Tell the office.” Tap See them to read what and why. For a change the office couldn’t accept, the office has a copy and can run it again once the cause is fixed.

Me says a change couldn’t be sent. This phone has the only copy. Don’t sign out, and write to help@barrierline.com.

The phone says its clock is off. Every time on a record comes from the phone, and the office can’t fix them afterwards. On an iPhone, go to Settings, General, Date & Time and turn on Set Automatically. On Android, turn on automatic date and time.

Good to know:

  • A photo or video of a finished visit is taken off your phone about two weeks after it reached the office. A photo then shows “At the office”.
  • A photo that can’t upload shows why under it, and stays on the phone.
