Track termite bonds and warranties, and work the renewals

For the office

Put each termite bond or warranty on the customer’s page with the date it ends. Barrierline warns you before it ends, and Customers, Renewals is the list to work.

Add one

  1. Open the customer and click the Warranties tab.
  2. Click Add a warranty.
  3. Set the Kind and what it Covers. Each box suggests choices, and you can type your own.
  4. Set Starts and For (1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 years). The end date shows under For.
  5. If the customer has a finished termite treatment, With the treatment lets you pick the one it came with, or None.
  6. Leave Renews every year ticked if it renews, and type the Renewal price (it can stay empty).
  7. Click Add the warranty.

You can also open a finished termite treatment and click Start its warranty. That box shows on termite treatments, not on a termite inspection.

When you are warned

The Inbox gets an alert 60, 30 and 7 days before it ends, and on the day. Its See the renewals button opens the list. The tech also sees the customer’s bond at the top of the stop on their phone, in amber when it ends within 60 days, or ended without a renewal in the last 90 days.

Work the renewals

Renewals lists every bond or warranty ending in the next 60 days, or already ended without a renewal. The numbers on top show how many to renew, what they are Worth, and how many ended without a renewal. Sort by Ending soonest or Biggest first.

A customer who has left. A customer who is cancelled or marked do not service is not on Renewals, so the counts and Worth are only bonds you can still win, and the Inbox does not warn about their bond ending. Their warranty is not ended or deleted: it stays on their Warranties tab until its date. Barrierline will not make a renewal invoice for them either: on their Warranties tab the button says Renewed, no bill. A paused customer stays on the list. If you make a customer active again, they come back to it and the warning comes for the stage they are in.

  • Renewed: bill $... moves it a year on and makes the invoice in the same click (see billing). With no renewal price, the button just says Renewed and makes no invoice. A warranty that does not renew has no renewed button.
  • Not renewing asks Why it ends: Not renewing, Sold the house, Went with another company, Replaced by a new warranty, or Other. Click End it. On a warranty that does not renew, the first button is called End it too. The warranty stays on the customer’s page with the reason.

Move-in

Bonds come in with a move-in when your file is a warranty or bond report, or a customer list with a warranty or bond column. One that ended more than 90 days before the move comes in already ended.

Good to know

  • A renewal is a year on from the day it ends. If that date has already passed, it runs a year from today.
  • A warranty cannot run past 15 years from its start. Add a new one instead.
  • An ended warranty cannot be renewed. Add a new one.
